We don’t do “mission trips” to far places before we’ve served our own block. We don’t fix, we accompany. We don’t consult from a distance, we carry chairs.
Our local partners
- The Commons Housing Collective — working with tenants and landlords to keep families housed in our gentrifying neighborhood.
- The Bread Table — eighty people, every Tuesday night, in the parish hall. No applications, no forms, no requirements. A meal.
- Tutor Corps — volunteer tutors for middle schoolers at Jefferson Elementary, four afternoons a week during the school year.
- English Together — ESL classes for recent immigrants, taught by bilingual members of our community on Saturday mornings.
- The Re-entry Partnership — job-readiness and life-coaching support for folks returning from incarceration.
- Neighborhood Advocacy — zoning hearings, city council meetings, school board elections. We show up because we live here.
Start small, stay long
We ask every new member to try one serving opportunity for three months. Not to prove anything, not to feel useful — to learn the practice of showing up when it’s inconvenient. That’s where the church becomes the church.
